Titans continue to feast on NFC North

Next up on Tennessee's NFC North platter?

Winless Detroit, at Ford Field, on Thanksgiving.

That probably sounds delicious for the Titans, who still might be the NFL's only undefeated team going into the game.

The Titans improved to 9-0 - and 3-0 against the NFC North - by holding off the Bears 21-14 at Soldier Field on Sunday.

A week earlier, they outlasted Green Bay 19-16 in overtime. They beat Minnesota 30-17 in Week 4.

Tennessee tries to make it 10-0 at Jacksonville next Sunday. Then they host Brett Favre and the Jets the following week.

"It's not an issue," head coach and former Bear Jeff Fisher said of his Titans' unblemished record. "The issue in that locker room is our next opponent, playing better and correcting mistakes.

"It's nice to be able to win and not play well. We (stunk), and we made some mistakes. (The Bears) forced a lot of mistakes on us."

While the Bears smothered Tennessee's running game, holding the Titans to 20 rushing yards on 29 attempts, quarterback Kerry Collins had his best game of the season. The 14-year NFL pro was 30-of-41 passing for a season-best 289 yards and 2 touchdowns (no interceptions).

"We found another way to win," Collins said. "We are able to put the previous game behind us and move on to our next opponent. That gives us a chance to win every Sunday."

Collins' 10-yard completion to tight end Bo Scaife, his 10th catch of the day, on third-and-5 from the Tennessee 40 brought the game to the two-minute warning and sealed the Titans' win.

It made little difference to the Bears that the loss was to an AFC - not an NFC - opponent.

"We don't like to lose and especially at home," defensive tackle Tommie Harris said. "And especially when we had a chance to beat an 8-0 team."
