Should have voted for Lisle rec center
The community should have voted yes for the Lisle Park District referendum. I'm very disappointed in the people of Lisle. We were given the opportunity to invest in our children's future, an opportunity to build our community to an even better place, and the majority of the voters voted it down or didn't even care enough to vote on the question at all. This new community center is something we desperately need. The Meadows Center is falling apart, and the park district is paying a ridiculous amount in rent to just find enough space to hold current programs.
If you voted no because you didn't have the information, then go to the park districts Web site and get the information, or go to LisleRNCC.com If you voted no because of the economy, well, the cost of construction will only go up as time passes. If you voted no because you're worried about your taxes going up, then give up something that costs $8 a month to make up for it. Do it for our children to have a safe and fun place to go. I would rather give up my coffee every month and have my children have a community center than keep my coffee and have my children hanging out in the street because there is no where to go. I don't want my kid's basketball program to be cut because I wouldn't give up my coffee. I'm not going to be that mom. If you voted no because you don't use the programs or the park district, then you are just being selfish.
In April, I hope the park district votes to go to referendum again for this and all of you who voted no are given a second chance to do the right thing. If you can't support the town of Lisle and the amenities we so desperately need in it, then move to another town.
