You don't have to be GOP to be Christian
I know I'm not the only one who is sick of those who believe that being a good Christian means having to also be a Republican.
Most of the religious right uses their religion only on convenient matters - i.e., gay marriage and abortion.
However, they're perfectly fine with their chosen party favoring the oil companies over the good of the environment of God's earth.
They don't seem to care when their party gives benefits to the most rich among us, but generally ignores the poor.
It doesn't seem to bother these so-called Christians that their party seems to be content to not have to read our prisoners in Guantanamo Bay their rights. They don't care that we torture these prisoners, who, despite the evils they have committed, are still creations of God and loved as much as us.
When it comes to abortion, they don't do anything to stop pregnancies, waiting until after a woman is pregnant to chastise her, and even then usually not reaching out and supporting her so it can be easier for her to go through with a pregnancy.
We should be Christians not just when it suits us, but all the time. That requires rising above partisanship.
