Toddler falls from second-floor window in Algonquin
A toddler was being treated at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge Thursday after falling from a second-story window of an Algonquin home earlier in the day.
The 13-month-old boy fell from the window onto a wooden deck at the rear of a house in the 700 block of Glacier Parkway at about 9:10 a.m., Algonquin police said.
Officers performed CPR at the scene until an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills ambulance arrived. The child was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin in serious condition and later transferred to Lutheran General, Deputy Police Chief Steve Kuzynowski said.
Officials at both hospitals would not release the boy's condition because he is a minor.
Kuzynowski said a bed was next to the window the boy fell through, and his mother was in the room at the time of the incident. The window screen was pushed out and found on the deck.
Police said he is alive but his condition and injuries are not known.
An Algonquin Police Department news release states that the state Department of Child and Family Services was contacted, as required by state law. Police said the incident is believed to be an accident, but they will continue to investigate.
