Marian Central student solves IMSA challenge
Matthias Kersten, a freshman at Marian Central Catholic High School, Woodstock, has correctly solved the "CyberQuiz4Kids" challenge sponsored by the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy and ComEd for the month of September 2008.
The IMSA-ComEd CyberQuiz 4 Kids is a program that features challenging online math or science brainteasers and word problems for Illinois students in grades 6-9. Each month, two new CyberQuiz math or science brainteasers and word problems are designed to be stimulating and thought provoking. There is one CyberQuiz challenge for Illinois students in grades 6-7 and another for grades 8-9. According to Illinois Math and Science Academy Principal Dr. Eric McLaren September's challenge was particularly difficult.
As a reward for solving the CyberQuiz4Kids challenge, Matthew won an iPod which was presented to him during his Geometry Honors class at Marian.
