Practical jokes galore in 'Parlor Games'

"Parlor Games" offers a fun night at the theater when St. Francis High School students present the original play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the school's Kuhn Cultural Arts Center, 2130 W. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton.

The unique quality of the comedy is that it was written eight years ago by St. Francis' English teacher James C. Wall of Villa Park who will have his directorial debut with his own play. Wall has been involved in Chicago theater for 25 years. Since the play was published, it has been performed 90 times in the United States, Canada and Japan. His numerous playwriting awards include the Beverly Hills Theatre Group's Julie Harris Playwright Award for his drama "Auschwitz Lullaby."

"Parlor Games' features practical joker Mort McNulty, played by Calvin King of Hanover Park, who plans his own wake just to hear what people will say about him after he's dead. His wife, Tricia portrayed by Becky Solomon of Naperville, turns his joke inside out.

Other cast members include Mary Kate Lusk and Kevin Lusk, both of Naperville, Alex Polkow of Warrenville, Bill Quinn and Jackie Saland of Wheaton, Michael Ferraro of Lisle and Erin Moffitt of Glen Ellyn.

Tickets are $10 per adult, $8 for students and seniors and available online or at the door.
