Carpentersville man accused of stalking

A Carpentersville man is facing up to five years in prison following his arrest Wednesday on accusations he repeatedly spied on a woman despite her order of protection against him.

Leroy John Leske, 44, was charged with aggravated stalking as the culmination of three prior arrests for violating the protective order issued last month.

"If the situation didn't resolve itself with those other charges, then we need to take it to the next level," Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said. "That's what has happened here."

Leske turned himself into Crystal Lake police late Wednesday afternoon and was expected to post a $2,500 bond to go free pending his next court date.

The charge alleges Leske on at least two occasions maintained surveillance over a person he previously harmed or threatened while she had an order of protection against him, Dziewior said.

The victim, a Crystal Lake resident, obtained the order Oct. 14, writing in court documents that Leske told her "he was watching me and I was going down with him."

"I am terrified of what (Leske) is going to do," the woman wrote.

The same day the protective order was issued, court records indicate, Leske sent her a text message, leading to his first arrest for violating the order.

Police arrested him again on allegations he called the woman Oct. 18 in violation of the order and again on Monday on a charge claiming he parked outside the woman's home.

All three of those cases remain pending. The new charge, a Class 3 felony, is punishable by two to five years in prison if Leske is convicted.
