Algonquin woman at home after crash
One of three women injured in a Saturday morning crash in Algonquin has been released from a hospital.
But another remained in critical condition Monday and a third continues to undergo treatment at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Kathryn Kostopoulos, 19, of Hampshire left Sherman Hospital in Elgin between Sunday and Monday, a spokesman said.
Renee Westergaard, 54, of Lake in the Hills, still was listed in critical condition at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Her 30-year-old daughter, Tiffany Avelar of Pingree Grove, was listed in fair condition.
Police said Avelar was driving a Kia Sephia when it crashed into a Pontiac G6 driven by Kostopoulos, at Randall and Harnish roads.
Westergaard was in the Kia's passenger seat.
Police have not yet issued tickets in the crash or determined its cause, Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Steve Kuzynowski said.
