Memorials to toll of drunken drivers

I was both sad and happy to read the article about Caitlin Weese`s memorial sign.

I am glad to see something being done by the state instead of just families having to put their own memorials up.

That has to be the most heart wrenching thing anyone would ever have to do.

What I wonder is, at $150 for each sign, does the grieving family have to pay for that?

I would hope part of the punishment of the drunken driver would be to foot the bill for this sign that memorializes an innocent life that was taken because he or she decided to drive drunk.

Even if the fee were 10 times that amount, the drunken driver will never be able to pay his or her debt to that family.

My heart goes out to Mr. Mains, and I hope this can bring a bit of closure for him and his family.
