Walker the victim of hypocritical attacks

I am absolutely outraged by the piece of mail from the Illinois Republican Party that I just received in my mailbox. The four page flier deals exclusively with Mark Walker as a repeat drunk driver with "dangerous judgment, endangering lives."

On Oct. 1, 2008, the Daily Herald reported that Mark Walker had come forward to reveal his three drunken driving convictions, and that he had not had a drink since his last arrest 12 years ago.

Instead of condemning this man, we should be applauding his strength of character in beating the terrible disease of alcoholism. I am fairly certain that Jesus has forgiven this man for his past transgression. I wish that the self-proclaimed party of religion and family values would find it in their heart to forgive their brother. As Christ said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," and "Judge not lest you be judged."

Send a strong message to the Illinois Republic Party that you believe this literature is inappropriate by voting for Mark Walker for state representative on Nov. 4.
