Be a citizen of the U.S., not the world

I read the Fencepost section today and of course there were a couple of pro Obama letters. While I have come to realize that these people just don't care about fact I felt I needed to clear up something. I read that Obama, according to the BBC, is rated higher in every other country except the United States. All I can say to that is: Who cares? Isn't it more important what the U.S. wants?

It may be a surprise to the few with blinders on out there that: The majority of us don't want to be a world citizen. We are proud to be citizens of the U.S. We are proud of our country, imperfections and all. We are proud that our country is always the leader in humanitarian efforts, even though the many we have helped turn on us. We love our country unconditionally. We want to continue to be the biggest and the best. We are not ready to concede our super power status to China or any other country. We do not feel that our country is evil in any way. We understand we have problems that need to be addressed, but not at the expense of the foundation this country was built on. We do not want to be a suburb of France.

Paul Blair once stated the true measure of the greatness of a country is by how many people want to get in, and how many want to leave. I don't want to be a world citizen. This is The United States of America. I respect your right to want that. Go join the world order...leave.
