Ignore Daily Herald on Lisle rec center
Lisle Park District residents, the Daily Herald has once again illustrated their lack of vision or understanding for our community's needs. They did not endorse the referendum for the pool six years ago, either. Good thing we did not listen to them then and we should not listen to them now.
They "have more than a tinge of regret" in reluctantly saying no ... does this mean they really support a yes vote but do not have the courage to endorse the project? They refer to troubled times; I assume primarily economic troubled times. When is the right economic time? Our community was insightful enough to endorse the pool referendum 6 years ago coming off one the worst "troubled times" in recent history ... 9/11. Maybe the Herald would prefer we wait until construction costs and interest rates are higher so our taxes will increase much more than if we approve this proposal now. Don't overlook the Herald's comment about the $10 million that will need to be spent just to improve facility infrastructures if this current referendum does not pass. This is throwing good money after bad. We will not attain any incremental benefits associated with the new facility.
Don't just take the Herald's comments that a strong enough case has not been made for the new community center at face value. Learn about the strong case that has been developed with over a year's work of due diligence for this proposal by going to the Residents for a New Community Center's Web site, lislerncc.com or visit the Lisle Park District site, lisleparkdistrict.org.
Do the right thing for our community; don't listen to the Herald's opinion and vote yes for a good investment in our community and our families.
