Cary park board should keep its word

The Cary Park District has a referendum on the ballot for the sale of approximately 90 acres of Hoffman Park. The Cary Park District had a referendum when they purchased the park which stated that all of the property was necessary for future park purposes.

During the intervening period, the population of the park district has grown substantially. After the property was purchased the Cary Park District planned to utilize every square foot of the property. The district before the purchase stated in newspaper articles of the Northwest Herald that they would not need additional sources of revenue to fund a development to the proposed project.

Years later the property has not yet been developed and Cary Park District seeks to short change citizens by selling approximately 90 acres of unique property that can never again be retrieved. If the park district was not telling the truth with regard to the initial purchase and development of the land, what are they saying now?

As the former owner of the property, it is my opinion that all of the property should remain contiguous and should be used by all of the citizens of the Cary Park District for park purposes. This was the reason that the property was sold to the Cary Park District and the reason the property was purchased.
