2 candidates come to fore in Dist. 6

As residents of DuPage County Board District 6, we have come to expect the highest quality of representation from our board members to continue and enhance our way of life. In this election, there are three people running for two positions. It is up to us, the voters, to elect the highest quality and best representative, not based on political parties, but on their integrity and ideologies.

The only incumbent running is Jim Zay. He has represented District 6 with the highest integrity and dedication one could ask of him. Zay fought for the waste transfer station to be put in West Chicago and won. He is the chairman of the stormwater management committee, and did an exemplary job handling flooding issues we recently sustained. Zay is also fighting against the consumption of alcohol in topless clubs to insure the safety and welfare of DuPage County residents after the patrons have left these establishments. He has earned our support.

Another candidate, Bob Larsen, is a highly decorated 18-year veteran of the Marine Corps who is still in the active reserve. He advocates a strong law enforcement position to protect our children. Larson also emphasized holding the tax line and balancing the County budget with programs to avoid a future tax increase for the next five years. This is extremely important especially in these volatile economic times where many of our residents cannot pay their bills. Larsen has participated in local government as a trustee in Milton Township and has worked with the United Way for the last 10 years as a volunteer and board member.

I hope all District 6 residents vote for Jim Zay and Bob Larsen. We need strong and intelligent representatives so DuPage County may go forward and not slip into a dark pit of cronyism, higher taxes and loss of county services like Cook County.
