Prochno offers experience in bid for 66th District

On Nov. 4 the voters of the 66th District will be forced to replace a legend, Carolyn Krause. As an elected official I am truly saddened by her retirement. Carolyn stood for what good government should stand for: honest, moral and hard working for the citizens of the 66th District.

We have been given the choice between two candidates, Christine Prochno and Mark Walker.

Christine Prochno has overwhelmingly been elected to the position of (Elk Grove Village) village trustee on three separate occasions and has served as a trustee for 11 years. Before that she served on the village zoning board of appeals and village plan commission. She has been the chair of the Elk Grove Youth Commission since 1994. She has been a vital member of the Senior Center, Elk Grove Lioness Club. Christine also has been an educator since 1975, working for various school districts, including Park Ridge, Illinois. Whatever Christine is involved in she gives 100 percent effort to.

Mark Walker has been a senior executive for the banking industry and now is in private practice as a consultant. He is a war veteran. He has no government experience, no political experience. According to his ads, he has brought "thousands" of jobs to Illinois, which in itself is an odd statement to make since he was never in a position to create jobs in Illinois. One thing Mr. Walker does have, by his own admission, is a working knowledge of the criminal system in Illinois with three DUIs in the last 12 years, two coming on the same night.

So you, the voters, have some facts about the candidates. One offers hope for Springfield. One offers no hope at all but a chance to start a political career. Is that what the district needs? A person with a criminal record or a proven candidate who's only record is serving the public.

Please join me in voting for Christine Prochno, state representative 66th District
