Many reasons to support District 76

As a teacher and former student of Diamond Lake School District 76, I highly encourage voters to consider the significant academic gains made by our district. Despite the fact that the amount spent per pupil is about $8,000 lower than almost every surrounding district, our students place as high, if not higher, than their peers in high school. After student teaching at another district, I was highly impressed with the growth that my alma mater had made since being a student in District 76. Our district continues to push the high-achieving students through differentiated curriculum and an enrichment program. We continue to support students with an extensive remedial reading program and various English language learning opportunities.

The district has developed its own successful program for the education of bilingual students and won the right to continue using the innovative approach, despite initial pushback from the state. Not only do we support students academically, but we have implemented social and emotional learning goals into the curriculum. I am extremely proud to be a part of District 76.
