Fair Tax would be fair, simple solution
I have recently learned about the Fair Tax Act, placed in front of Congress on July 14, 1999.
If enacted, the Fair Tax would eliminate federal income taxes.
People would be taxed a certain amount based on the dollar amount they spend for purchases.
For instance, a pair of jeans that cost $100 with a Fair Tax of 10 percent would cost the buyer $110, not including state taxes.
Because the tax would be progressive based on consumption, it would eliminate the "class warfare" that seems to be tearing apart voters today.
Personally, I am voting Democrat this election. This bill has been sponsored by mostly conservative senators.
I hope that the next president considers the Fair Tax, because it seems like such a simple solution to the problem of soaring economic expenses and rising debt to consumers.
