QuadCom director charged with misconduct
The director of an emergency call center in northern Kane County is facing criminal charges alleging he misused a criminal background search database, the Kane County State's Attorney's office announced Tuesday.
Steven R. Cordes, 43, Lake in the Hills, was indicted on 18 counts of official misconduct, a felony that can carry a sentence of two to five years in prison if convicted, the state's attorney's office said.
According to the indictment, Cordes used the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System - or LEADS - between 2006 and 2008 to obtain information about four people for personal use.
Stephen Pickett, chairman of the QuadCom board of directors, confirmed Cordes was placed on administrative leave more than a month ago, but would not elaborate on the charges. The board is expected to convene in about a week to consider the matter, Pickett said.
Cordes has been the director of QuadCom since 2000. The center dispatches emergency services in Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow and South Barrington.
A warrant has been issued for Cordes arrest, but as of Tuesday he had not been taken into custody, Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti.
Cordes could not be reached for comment.
