A lot of complaints but no solutions
Now that we have watched and listened to both the presidential and vice presidential speakers, we have some idea as to how to vote, and vote we must.
The economic quagmire that we are in was not fully described by either party.
Back in September of 1999, President Bill Clinton exerted great pressure on the financial system to make it easier for people to barrow funds to buy homes.
At that time, the banks were leveraged by a factor of ten. This means that you deposit $100 in the bank and they could loan out $1,000.
Through the efforts of President Clinton, they could now loan out 30 to 40 times the amount of deposit ($3,000-4,000).
Well this caused the financial institutions to become very greedy and lowered the interest rate and sold homes to people who could not afford them.
Several people warned the financial group to reform their ways. First by Greenspan, then by the Republican Party including John McCain.
Several times this was brought up to Congress, and each time the Democratic Party marched in lock step to veto it. Now that party is blaming Bush for this problem.
Now lets get real. Who started this mess and who fought to keep it going?
Yes, I will admit the Republican Party under Bush has made some monumental stupid decisions, but so have the Democrats.
They have controlled Congress and have complained about Bush decisions, but have they offered solutions? I have not heard of any.
The media also has ranted and raved, and they too have not offered suggestions but complaints.
I personally do not know who to vote for. A party that complains and offers nothing for a solution or a party that says it will change but will it?
I wish this: that I may cast a spell over all politicians that should they tell a lie, their nose would grow one inch per lie. It would be so much easier to vote then. The shortest nose wins.
