Huge debt of thanks to Winfield in Action

Seasons are changing, and I've come to realize that our youngest children are now too old for Winfield in Action (WIA) Sports. WIA is the name of an organization of volunteers who create youth league baseball, softball and soccer opportunities for kids in Winfield and its surrounding area.

Our family (three children) owes a huge thank you to directors Deb Moran, Ed Foreman, and the hundreds of coaching volunteers who have created wonderful, lasting memories and boxes of t-shirts, video and photographs that we'll keep forever. Special thanks to coaches Barb, Dave, Dawn, Dave, Tom, Dave, Hubert and Dave because they were indeed special.

Athletics was a very enjoyable learning experience in fair play, teamwork, respect for others, commitment, acquisition of skills and laughter. The hallways of their high school are loaded with former players (from other elementary schools) with whom they've already created friendships "in the trenches."

In 14 years we experienced nothing but goodwill, constructive/positive coaching methods, extensive parent involvement in set up, supervision, transportation, concessions, etc., the legendary "slice of Americana" stuff. Nothing could have been better, and we owe it all to those who volunteered.

Thanks a million. It was great.
