We need more than flowery speeches
One of the great mysteries of this 2008 presidential campaign is exactly who is Barack Obama. Yes, we know that he was a state senator, that he is a great charismatic speaker, who is good with words, and we know that he wants "change," whatever that means. But beyond that, ask yourselves: what qualifies him to be president of the U.S.? We seem to know far more about Sarah Palin than we do Obama, and while some might make fun of her being mayor of a small town, and governor of Alaska, it would appear that those are far more qualifications than Senator Obama has. At least she has some executive experience. Research of the Internet and several articles shows that for 20 years he was a community activist mostly in the Hyde Park ares of Chicago. Webster's dictionary says that an activist is "a doctrine or practice that emphasizes direct vigerous action especially in support of or opposition to one side of a controversial issue." Wikopedia says an activist is "a policy of taking direct and militant action to achieve a political or social goal."
So there you have it. A person who is great at making speeches, but beyond that there is not much there. Some would call him an empty suit.
Voting must be made based on knowledge, experience, and wisdom, not flowery speeches.
