History roundtable focuses on St. Charles
Four-lane highways, paved streets and ample parking are part of today's amenities but not so convenient many years ago. Transportation through the decades will be the topic of the next History Roundtable discussion, a program of the St. Charles Heritage Center.
Everyone is invited to this free event from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave. St. Charles.
These round-table discussions are a fascinating, non-structured reminiscing of times past as told by many of the lifelong citizens who hold these precious memories. It is also a great introduction to your local history if you are new to St. Charles or St. Charles Township.
Did you know St. Charles had a train station? Want to know where it was? Who was instrumental in bringing Route 64 through the city? How did that change St. Charles forever?
