Fatal crash causes North Avenue closure
Authorities closed a stretch of North Avenue in West Chicago Thursday afternoon following a four-car crash that left one person dead.
Officials with the West Chicago Fire Protection District said the fatal accident happened around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Conte Parkway.
One victim, who was transported to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, died from injuries suffered in the crash. Hospital officials said they couldn't release the name of the victim and didn't know the nature of the injuries.
A hospital spokeswoman confirmed three other victims were transported to Central DuPage with minor injuries. They were expected to be released Friday.
Fire officials said a fifth victim also suffered minor injuries and was transported, but the hospital showed no record of that patient.
North Avenue was closed between Route 59 and Powis Road as emergency crews worked at the scene of the crash.
