Redhawks stay close in DVC

Emily McGee had 7 kills, 3 digs and 2 aces, and Naperville Central (19-2, 9-1 DuPage Valley Conference) beat Wheaton North 25-12, 25-7 to remain a game behind Naperville North in the DVC race. The two teams meet Wednesday at Naperville North. Kelsey Hoey added 18 assists, Jill Fields 6 digs and Kelly Farrell 3 kills and 3 digs for Naperville Central.

Naperville North d. West Chicago: Emily Cardwell had 6 kills and Kaia Schwartz and Audrey Wilson 4 each for the Huskies (20-1, 10-0 DVC) in a 25-11, 25-12 win over West Chicago. Julie Chin and Kelsey Bowler each added 6 digs. For West Chicago (3-17, 1-9) Emily Paschke had 4 kills and 5 digs.

Glenbard East d. Glenbard North: Natalie Rizzo had 7 kills and Nikki Hall 5, as the Rams (14-7, 7-3 DVC) outlasted Glenbard North 27-25, 25-19. Amanda Peterson added 5 aces, 6 assists and 5 digs for Glenbard East. Sarah Campos had 4 aces and 16 assists and Jasmine Calep 4 kills for Glenbard North (7-18, 0-9).

WW South d. West Aurora: Dayana Rodriguez and Jackie Wolfe each had 6 kills for the Tigers (13-8, 6-4 DVC) in a 25-12, 25-23 win over the Blackhawks. Amy Drabant added 18 assists and Shealynn Kolosky 5 blocks.

Benet d. Carmel: Ariana Mankus had 9 kills, Jessica Jendryk 8, Natalie Patzin 6 and Gina Finke 5 for the Redwings (21-0) in a 25-10, 25-11 win over Carmel. Brianne Hucek and Paige Vargas each servced 3 aces.

Neuqua Valley d. Streamwood: Kate Kendall had 6 kills, 5 digs and 6 aces playing outside for ill teammate Nikki Federico, and the Wildcats (16-6, 7-1 Upstate Eight Conference) bounced back from their first conference loss with a 25-12, 27-25 win over Streamwood. Rachel Quackenbush chipped in with 5 kills and 8 digs and Sam Skryd 2 kills, 3 blocks, 8 assists and 4 aces.

Glenbard West d. St. Joseph: Amy Kendall and Laura Luczak each had 7 kills and Michele Waggoner 10 assists for the Hilltoppers (13-8) in a 25-19, 25-12 win.

Montini d. Immaculate Conception: Emily Fahey had 18 service points and 17 assists and Stephanie Viane 15 digs and 4 aces as the Broncos (14-13, 4-7 Suburban Catholic Conference) beat the Knights 25-18, 19-25, 25-18.

Downers Grove North d. Addison Trail: Tori Boyd had 6 kills and 7 blocks for the Blazers (10-16) in a 25-16, 25-21 loss to the Trojans.

Illiana Christian d. Timothy Christian: Anneke Stremler had 8 kills for the Trojans (7-13, 4-3 Private School League) in a 25-16, 25-17 loss to Illiana Christian.

St. Edward d. Driscoll: St. Edward kept its hold on second place in the Suburban Catholic Conference Thursday night.

St. Edward improved to 12-10 overall and 9-2 in Suburban Catholic Conference play with a dominating 25-7, 25-5 win over Driscoll.

Leading the Green Wave attack were Kristen Haggenjos (7 kills, 2 digs), Rachel Varley (3 assists, 2 digs) and Katie Yohn (4 kills, 6 assists). Freshman Katie Ayello had an outstanding day for St. Edward with 24 service points including 5 aces.

St. Charles East d. South Elgin: South Elgin (6-16, 2-5 Upstate Eight) fell to St. Charles East in two games by scores of 25-14, 25-11. Genevieve Johnson led the Storm with 5 digs.

Bartlett d. Larkin: Behind solid efforts from Carly Sahagian, who had 11 kills, 6 aces and 2 digs, Bartlett (13-4-1, 5-2) picked up this 25-11, 25-18 Upstate Eight Conference win over Larkin. Tori Burke added 20 assists for the Hawks. Claire Sherman had 7 digs, Jessica Harris 4 digs and 6 kills and Amanda Lye 3 kills for the Royals (6-19, 1-8).

Elgin d. East Aurora: With key contributions from Kendall Martin (8 kills), Ellen Holton (6 kills), Abbey Houde (14 assists) and Lindsey Morrow (5 digs), Elgin (12-9, 4-3) beat East Aurora in Upstate Eight Conference play. The Maroons won 25-15, 25-16.
