BC to hold Volley for Cure night

The Burlington Central girls volleyball team will host a Volley for the Cure event on Wednesday, Oct. 15 when the Rockets host Richmond-Burton for their senior night.

The frosh-soph game will begin at 4:30 p.m. and throughout the evening there will be events that will raise money for the Susan G. Komen fund for breast cancer research.

A serving and hitting conest will be held for $3 per entry and the volleyball program will be selling pink T-shirts for $7.

St. Edward High School will also hold a Volley for the Cure event the same night when the Green Wave host St. Francis in a Suburban Catholic Conference match.

Sad news: The Streamwood High School community mourned the death from cancer last Friday of former cross country and track athlete Darlene Felton. Felton, a 2006 Streamwood graduate, was the school's homecoming queen in 2005. Her funeral services were held Tuesday.

A moment of silence will be held for Felton prior to the Sabres' football game tonight against Lake Park at Millennium Field. Felton was 20 and a student at Elgin Community College.
