Private life matters for conservatives too

During the Clinton years, every detail of Clinton's sex life was revealed in the news media day after day for his whole term.

Democrats complained because that was his private life, but Republicans said no, it was not personal because character counted and we must know the character of a person running for office.

Now if the news media is so liberal, why are we not hearing about John McCain and his first wife Carol?

We know all about the hero he was in Vietnam and how noble he was in not deserting his fellow prisoners - but we hear nothing about how he deserted his first wife.

Carol McCain was the mother of his three oldest children and a beautiful model. She was home taking care of the children while he was in Vietnam.

While he was in prison, she was terribly disfigured in a car crash, pelvis and arm shattered and suffered six months of surgery. She was in bad shape when McCain returned home, but did he stick by her?

No. He began womanizing and abandoned his crippled wife for someone very rich, pretty, vibrant and 18 years his junior, who later became his wife Cindy.

Wasn't it a little hypocritical at the convention for him to be appearing as such a noble war hero and such a wonderful family man but nothing said about the real hero, Carol McCain, who stuck by him and why nothing about this appears in the news media?

Character counted with Clinton. Does the news media have a different set of values for conservatives?
