Pizza deliveryman attacked in Schaumburg

A group of young men attacked and robbed a pizza deliveryman in Schaumburg Monday, making away with three pizzas and an order of spicy wings.

Police said the attackers approached and surrounded the 20-year-old victim, punching him and hitting him in the back with a stick, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said authorities have questioned a couple of juveniles and are looking for a couple more people. The juveniles who were questioned were released to their parents, but could yet face charges.

The deliveryman works for a pizzeria in Hoffman Estates. The attack occurred around 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of Poplar Place.

Nebl said such attacks occur occasionally in Schaumburg, usually after assailants lure the deliveryman by placing an order. In this case, it's unclear if the attackers summoned the deliveryman, or if the attack was spontaneous.
