Candidates needed for Sugar Grove public office

Are you interested in running for office in Sugar Grove?

Terms are ending for the positions currently filled by Village President Sean Michels, and trustees Robert Bohler, Mary Heineman and Thomas Renk. All positions are four-year terms.

Candidates for these posts will be on the ballot at the April 7 consolidated election.

Petitions or nomination papers for candidates will be available Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the office of the village clerk at the village hall, 10 Municipal Drive. They will also be available online at the state election Web site and the village Web site.

Petitions must be filed in the office of the village clerk. The filing period is during regular business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Monday, Jan. 26.

Village Clerk Cynthia Welsch would like candidates to inform her that they are running if they download forms and avoid an office visit. She gets calls from reporters, and other folks are just curious. Also, she may get additional information that she needs to forward to candidates.

If you need assistance, contact Welsch at (630) 466-4507, ext. 24, or at cwelsch@sugar-grove.il.us.

A candidate's guide is available at elections.illinois.gov.

The show will feature clothing, wood creations, natural and painted gourds, handmade jewelry and doll clothing and other items. One artist will demonstrate the art of basket-weaving. Homemade candles and soaps are another offering, as well as quilts and fabric accessories for the home.
