Briefs: CROP Walk raises $4,700
The Aurora CROP Hunger Walk on Oct. 5 raised $4,700 to fight hunger worldwide. About 75 walkers participated in the 3-mile, ecumenical walk that raised $300 more than last year. Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church in Aurora sponsored the event.
CASA seeks advocates
CASA of DuPage County is sponsoring two one-hour information sessions in Wheaton for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer on behalf of abused or neglected children in the juvenile and family court system. The sessions will be offered either at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 or 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at the CASA office, 505 N. County Farm Road, which is on the courthouse's third floor, Suite C, in Wheaton. Wheaton traffic crackdown
Wheaton police conducted extra traffic enforcement along main thoroughfares in September, focusing specifically on speeders. Officers issued 329 citations for speeding; four for lack of insurance; and made two misdemeanor arrests. Patrols were funded through a grant by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
