Attributes of Dist. 94 new superintendent
After consultation with the school district community, including its internal and external publics, it is determined the school board should seek a student-centered educational leader who will be expected to:
• Deal directly and fairly with the board, faculty, staff, students and parents while fostering a trusting relationship among all parties.
• Set high standards and effectively lead the execution of improvement and require accountability of administrators, staff and students.
• Lead an effective administrative team and organization in an environment of mutual trust and respect.
• Establish priorities that focus on the needs of students within a balanced budget.
• Demonstrate fiscal management which leads to consistent balanced budgets.
• Work effectively in an environment where organized unions are present and active in the school system.
• Have a proven track record for leading a school district in the improvement of student achievement in all areas.
• Have experience working in a diverse community and student population.
• Demonstrate the traits of fairness, honesty, integrity and openness.
• Possess highly effective communication skills, including written, verbal and electronic.
• Provide strong leadership in curriculum improvement and be knowledgeable of current research and best practice in the design and implementation of programs.
• Show courage when it comes to having to make difficult decisions.
• Develop positive working relationship and collaboration with a wide variety of constituent groups including feeder school districts.
• Work with the school board to maintain good relationships and assist them in the execution of their respective governance and oversight roles while utilizing the strengths of individual board members.
The individual selected is expected to be highly visible and a tireless worker who is engaged in the schools and community. Successful experience as a high-level administrator in a similar school district and size is preferred. Strong experience as a 9-12 administrator is essential. Experience as a K-12 administrator is desirable.
