Testing hydrants in Fox River Grove
From Monday through Friday, Fox River Grove's water department will be inspecting and testing water flow in the fire hydrants. What this means is you may experience water discoloration and pressure fluctuation. If you experience oddly colored water, run the cold water until it's clear again. You also should avoid doing laundry during this time. For details, call the village at (847) 639-3170.
Holiday promotion
Spring Hill Mall is in the process of selecting local nonprofit organizations to benefit from a holiday promotion that will be launched Oct. 15. If you are or know of an interested nonprofit organization that would like to participate in this promotion, you will need to submit a participation form by Monday, Oct. 6.
Participation forms will be reviewed and nine organizations will be selected shortly. In a nutshell, this promotion will encourage shoppers to visit the Giving Spree Web site, designed by Spring Hill Mall, and solicit donations to your charities through the Web site in exchange for coupons from retailers for a Nov. 15 shopping promotion. Your organization will receive 100 percent of donation proceeds; the minimum donation in order to receive coupons is $5. The more your organization is able to promote the Giving Spree through newsletters, events and volunteers, the more money will be raised for your organization. For a participation form, e-mail pmsadv@sbcglobal.net. E-mail the completed form to amy.prew@ggp.com or fax it to (847) 428-2219.
