Cary-Grove bomb scare just that
Classes will resume as usual today at Cary-Grove High School, a day after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of about 2,000 students and staff members.
An extensive search Wednesday using bomb sniffing dogs did not find any explosive devices at the school.
At about 8:44 a.m., Crystal Lake High School District 155 and Cary Police received a telephoned bomb threat, a Cary Police release stated. No details of the threat were available.
"Even though no bomb or explosive device was seen, the decision ... was made to evacuate the school in the interest of caution and to allow a thorough search for explosive devices," the release said.
Students were escorted to nearby St. Peter & Paul Church and Trinity Oaks Christian Academy before being dismissed at about 11:30 a.m. They were allowed back in at 2:30 p.m. after the search was concluded to retrieve personal items.
Anyone with information is asked to call Cary police at (847) 639-2341, the school district at (815) 455-8500 or Cary Area Crime Stoppers at (847) 639-3060.
