Jung key to success of land use plan
For the last two years, McHenry County has been actively involved with the creation of the 2030 Land Use Plan. Since the failure of the 2020 plan, the county has learned quite a few lessons and insists on learning from its mistakes.
For starters, the county appointed Vice Chairman John Jung to be the liaison to the commission. John has dedicated a tremendous amount of time to the plan and has constantly reached out to all the parties vested in this plan. Another lesson learned, the commission had to be composed of multiple interests to assure the plan was fairly balanced.
John Jung's job of reaching out to balance those interests has been challenging to say the least, but Jung continues to facilitate discussion.
Another lesson learned: Failure cannot be an option.
The county can no longer depend on a plan developed in the mid-90s. Although interested parties have clashed, John Jung maintains professional relationships, respects all voices, and appreciates everyone's interests. To say these last two years on the 2030 plan have been difficult at times would be putting it mildly, but because of the remarkable dedication and determination of the commission and Vice Chairman/Liaison John Jung, the County's 2030 Land Use Plan will succeed.
