Only a few days left to register

The Des Plaines city clerk has announced that the last day to register to vote in the city clerk's office before the Tuesday, Nov. 4 general election is Tuesday, Oct. 7. Des Plaines residents wishing to register must bring two forms of identification to the city clerk's office, 1420 Miner St. Those born outside the United States must present naturalization papers. The clerk's office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call (847) 391-5311.

Wheeling library needs volunteers

The Indian Trails Public Library District, 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling, is seeking volunteers to help with the library's Radio Frequency Identification system along with various other opportunities to assist the library staff. Prayer breakfast about diversity

Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia and the Ministerial Association will host the annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at Manzo's Banquets, 783 Lee St., Des Plaines. Theme of the breakfast is diversity. NBC 5 reporter Phil Rogers is the guest speaker. The breakfast is a fundraiser benefiting the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance Burn Camp. Cost is $25. French Market back on calendar

The Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission, in conjunction with the Mount Prospect Lions Club Farmers' Market, will host "The French Market" from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Metra commuter parking lot, Northwest Highway and Route 83, Mount Prospect. The market was rescheduled due to the storms in September. The market includes: Retro Bistro sidewalk cafe, a French cooking demonstration by Dave's Specialty Foods and Brie's Gift Gallery antique bazaar.
