Briefs: Man arrested in burglary

A Crystal Lake man was held in the Lake County jail Tuesday on $75,000 bond in connection with a break-in at a Barrington home. Police said Chad A. Lowrance, 30, was charged with residential burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of heroin after being apprehended about 2 p.m. in a home on the 200 block of White Oak Court. According to police, Lowrance rang the front door bell. A resident looked out and saw Lowrance but didn't answer the door, police said. Shortly after, the resident heard noise at the back door, locked herself in a room in the home and called police. Lowrance was apprehended without incident inside the home. A diamond ring, digital memory card and the heroin was found in his pockets, police said.

No one seriously hurt in crash

Lake Zurich rescue officials transported one person to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a multicar accident on Route 12 at Bailey Drive on Tuesday. Officials said the accident took place at about 7:15 a.m. and involved three or four cars. No further information was available.

Superintendent search

Libertyville Elementary District 70 is seeking community input Oct. 13 as it conducts a national search for a superintendent to replace Mark Friedman, who is retiring at the end of this school year after 17 years with the district. A focus group is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. at Highland Middle School, 310 Rockland Road, Libertyville, and is open to all residents and parents. Residents can discuss the traits and characteristics they'd like to see in the next superintendent. Earlier in the day, representatives from the Illinois Association of School Board will conduct focus groups for teachers, administrators and support staff for all five schools and will oversee the evening session. Community members will help create a profile at the evening session. An online survey also will be available.

She has served on the Illinois Municipal League and as liaison to Hawthorn Elementary District 73 and Cook Memorial Public Library; Jason Mercure, a Beach Park resident and criminal defense attorney with his own practice. He previously worked for the Lake County State's Attorney's office and is a graduate of John Marshall Law School.
