Aurora toddler drowns in retention pond
A 20-month-old Aurora boy drowned Tuesday night in an apartment complex retention pond, authorities said Wednesday.
Police said the boy's death was accidental.
Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said officers searched for Nathaniel Strasser of the 3700 block of Gabrielle Lane for about 15 minutes after he was reported missing.
"The boy was reported missing after he was not seen for about 10 minutes. He was last seen playing with other children," Ferrelli said. "Officers immediately began searching and found the child drowned in a nearby retention pond."
The pond is located near the Hunter's Glen apartment complex in the 300 block of North Oakhurst Road.
Police immediately began CPR until Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived. Nathaniel was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:36 p.m.
