Warrenville cops investigating attempted abduction of 12-year-old

Warrenville police are investigating an attempted child abduction Sunday of a 12-year-old girl near Branch Avenue and Continental Drive.

Police said the 12-year-old was riding her bicycle at about 3:30 p.m. when a male driver began following beside her on Branch Avenue.

Police said he allegedly offered her money but only if she agreed to enter his vehicle.

The girl refused, which prompted the man to yell at her as he followed her onto Continental Drive.

When the girl turned into Continental Park, the man stopped and exited his car and chased the girl on foot.

Not being able to catch her, the suspect gave up on the chase and returned to his vehicle.

Police described the man approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a thin build and a goatee. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black sunglasses. He was last seen driving a rusty blue or green car.
