Former Ram enters guilty plea
ST. LOUIS -- A former member of the St. Louis Rams faces two years of probation after pleading guilty to two counts of misdemeanor assault.
Dominique Byrd entered the pleas on Sept. 15th, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office said Friday. In exchange, a felony charge was dropped.
The charges stemmed from an incident in December 2006 at the Pepper Lounge in downtown St. Louis. The former Rams tight end allegedly touched a female worker and then hit the woman's male friend with a drinking glass.
The Rams released Byrd in April.
Byrd was a third-round draft pick in 2006 who played in 14 games over two seasons, catching six passes, one for a touchdown.
