Briefs: Man accused of vandalism

A man arrested on charges of vandalism in Arlington Heights is being looked at in connection with vandalism in Buffalo Grove, police said. Dmitry Lukashock, 28, of 1105 Miller Lane, Buffalo Grove, was arrested around 9 a.m. Sept. 15 and charged with attempted retail theft from Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road, Arlington Heights. He also was charged with criminal damage to property; police say he had punctured a tire and scratched the entire side of a Cadillac in the parking lot. He was turned over to the Buffalo Grove Police Department in connection with damage to 10 vehicles in a Buffalo Grove store parking lot. Buffalo Cmdr. Steve Husak said Monday that police have charged Lukashock with two counts of criminal damage to property for tires punctured at the Jewel store, 79 N. McHenry Road. He said police are also gathering more information on a series of tires that were slashed in the Mill Creek area on Sept. 11. Lukashock's court date on the Arlington Heights charges is Oct. 3.

Prospect marching band wins

Prospect High School's marching band was named grand champion in Wheeling High Schools 41st Chicagoland Marching Band Festival on Saturday, with a record crowd watching. Prospect took top honors in its division, class AAA, with Marian Catholic and Lincoln Way Central taking second and third, respectively. In class AA, Morton High School took first, while Fremd took second and Romeoville placed third. In Class A, it was Glenbard West on top with Alan B. Shepard and Glenbrook North following in second and third, respectively. Host Wheeling marched in exhibition with its show "Celebration - The Music of Karl Jenkins.

44th and 55th debate coming

A debate involving the candidates for state representatives in the 44th and 55th districts will take place at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg, 201 E. Schaumburg Court. Paul Green will moderate the event sponsored by the Schaumburg Business Association. Challenger Anita Forte Scott will appear with 55th District state Rep. Disability forum:

The Wheeling Township Advisory Council on Disabilities will host a disability legislative forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton Ave. State Sens. Dan Kotowski and Matt Murphy and state Reps. Sid Mathias, Elaine Nekritz and Kathy Ryg are scheduled to appear. The forum will feature a presentation focusing on members of the community living with a disability who are in need of services. A q-and-a session will follow.
