Breast Cancer Walk was memorable
I want to thank all the people that came out and supported us as we walked through the local communities. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 we walked through the communities of Glencoe, Wilmette, Winnetka and Glenview. On Saturday, Aug. 9, we walked through Des Plaines, Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights. Sunday, Aug 10, we were in Lincolnwood and Chicago.
Many people were out in their yards and along the route cheering us on. What a great feeling to have such support as we walked in Day 2 of our three days. Sixty miles is a long way to go and when you get this kind of support, it makes it just that much easier.
Des Plaines had traffic under control as we had to walk on some streets, where there were no sidewalks. Mount Prospect police had on pink shirts as they crossed us at major intersections. Arlington Heights gave us Greens Park to have lunch and had people on north Douglas Avenue with posters and applause as we went by.
A special thank you to Oakton Community College for letting us camp there for two nights on their property. What a great way to spend a weekend.
Thanks to all.
