Prepare for a new career or enhance your current job with business training, interviewing skills or goal-setting classes through McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department. These informative and accessible classes are valuable resources for all job-seekers and go-getters.

Take Charge of Your Success: This workshop is designed to provide women with insights, tools and information to take charge of their success. From appearance to attitude, women can learn steps to identify their strengths and weaknesses. The class will focus on how to prioritize, set goals, and how to concentrate efforts for personal improvement and achieving goals. This class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25. A Passion for Parties: Turn your passion for parties and the joy of working with people into an exciting career as a special event planner/consultant. This workshop will provide information needed to start and run a successful event planning business. Bring a notebook, pencil and a calculator to class. Ready-Set-Interview!: Don't leave anything to chance. The number one interview mistake is not being fully prepared to showcase your talents on this important day. This class will provide tips for interviewing, job-seeking attire and how to follow-up on interviews. Come join this interactive class and practice these skill sets to make the most of your opportunity. This class meets from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 18. Cost is $39. Financial workshops being offered by MCC include:
• Residential Real Estate Investment: Anyone interested in getting started in real estate investing can find a wealth of information in this one-day class. Learn to identify properties with the greatest potential for appreciation, discover the latest financing options, review tax liabilities, depreciation and capital gains. Develop your personal investing strategy and business plan here. A real estate agent, mortgage expert, attorney and accountant answer your questions and identify pitfalls. • Investment Basics: This four-week series will cover the ins and outs of investments. Learn how to begin investing from Certified Financial Planner Charlie Long. This class meets from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays, Oct. 1-22. The cost of the class is $59. Use course ID: NFM S23 010 when registering.
Personal And Spiritual Development classes: Renew your mind and soul with informative and enjoyable classes on personal and spiritual development offered this fall by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department.
These classes will begin soon:
• Reiki I, II, II or Series: Reiki is an oriental technique of hands-on healing. Participants will study the chakra energy systems and learn how to do treatments for a healthier body, mind and spirit. The instructor will introduce the Reiki symbols, discuss the seven levels of the human energy field and teach energizing breathing techniques. Bring a sack lunch and a cushioned mat. Attend the classes individually or sign up for the entire series at a discount. • Spirit of Tarot: Explore the concepts and application of this ancient art to increase your emotional and spiritual growth. Each student will experience giving and receiving a tarot card reading and must bring a set of Rider-Waite tarot cards. This class will meet from 7:30 to 10 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1. • Huna Healing: Huna works with the powers of the mind and seven principles to realize more health and harmony for your life. You'll explore the principles and how they function within your life, plus experience meditation and ways of divination focusing with Huna. This class meets from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11. Energy and green remodeling: Dave Kozlowski will offer a workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at McHenry Community College on the topic of making a home more energy efficient while saving you money.
He will show participants how to select green materials and products, improve energy conservation, avoid mistakes that come with renovating a house, and consider whether to incorporate renewable energy.
