Barrington downs Buffalo Grove 39-14

If there was any doubt that Barrington could be the cream of the crop in the Mid-Suburban League, the Broncos proved it Friday night.

The Broncos (4-0) built a 39-0 lead at the end of three quarters and coasted to a 39-14 win over visting Buffalo Grove (2-2) in an MSL divisional crossover.

Quarterback Cody Seeger led the Barrington offense in accounting for 2 rushing and 2 passing touchdowns.

Seeger credited offensive linemen Erik Zentner, Adam Sellner, Trevor Laue, Mike Ingram and Gus Handler.

"The credit goes to the offensive line and receivers tonight," Seeger said. "It's easy to do a lot of things behind them. We have a 'SEP' goal. That is, to Score on Every Possession. In the first half we scored 4 touchdowns and a field goal."

Seeger (10-for-12, 127 yards) threw a pair of first-quarter touchdowns. One went to Kevin Crowley for 7 yards; another went 25 yards to Daniel Evers, who fended off two receivers to make the catch in the end zone and a 14-0 lead.

Sam Ojuri made it 21-0 on an 18-yard run with 9:02 left in the first half. Ojuri finished with 103 yards in 15 attempts.

A 30-yard field field goal by Ryan Murach and a 1-yard touchdown run by Seeger finished off the half with Barrington up 30-0.

"We were fortunate to come out of the nonconference part of our schedule 4-0," Barrington coach Joe Sanchez said. "Now it starts for real, to win the Mid-Suburban West. The offensive line did a great job tonight in firing off the ball. Cody has a lot of poise in the pocket. He can turn a bad situation into a good one."

The Bison offense accounted for no net rushing yards. Quarterback J.P. Kulick (13-for-24, 138 yards, 1 interception) threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Mike Cornely in the fourth quarter. Josh Hampton added a 6-yard run.

"You can't get behind a good team like Barrington," BG coach Jim Farrell said. "They are big, physical and they have the skill players."

The Broncos' defense had 4 quarterback sacks, 2 by Alex Smith.
