It's all about parties, not the candidates

I don't think many of you understand what's happening. Most of you think that you're voting for a person, whether they be man or woman, president, vice president, congressman or judge. Many of you will even vote for a candidate because they are black or a woman. You have been duped into that line of thinking. You even think that experience in Congress is beneficial for a candidate. It really means that they've learned how to play the political games, and how to keep it secretive.

What you are actually voting for is a party, basically a choice of two. The party has selected the candidates you are voting for - it was not your choice. The person you think you are voting for has sworn allegiance to their party, and the party does the thinking for them. A president or vice-president, for example, does have authority vested in them, but let's face it, they will only use this authority through the advisers in the party. The candidates are, for the most part just figureheads that look good, talk well (one exception) and do their party's bidding. In all political offices, decisions are made by the party. This allegiance is obvious when a president gives his State-of-the-Union address - applause is often withheld or given by one side of the room, only along party lines.

The past eight years are the result of the Republican Party's selfishness, bad decisions, Karl Rove and lobbyists. I've been unhappy with their decisions and their effect on the United States, and I'm not alone. I feel that America is very unhappy. Politicians seem to think we want leaders, but in reality we want representatives that will heed us. We have no control over what is done by any branch of government, and what they do often makes no sense. It's un-American. Republicans benefit the upper classes and corporations, and even bail them out when they fail, but what about the rest of us? We hope things may change if the Democratic Party gets into office with Obama. We cannot vote McCain into office because it definitely means continuing the same Republican Party arrogance, greed, wars and smokescreens again. Don't say I didn't tell you so.
