TriCity Family Services offers anger management for kids

TriCity Family Services is offering "Smart Choices K-5" this fall for children in need of anger management development. This workshop has been effective with children having conflicts with peers and teachers in school, with siblings or parents at home, or out in the community.

Smart Choices K-5 is a four- to six-session workshop teaching children in kindergarten to fifth grade the necessary skills to manage anger, resolve conflict, and effectively communicate their needs. Smart Choices K-5 is family centered, with an approach requiring a strong commitment and participation from the family, as well as the child. One parent is required to attend all sessions with the child.

The six-session program for kindergarten to second grade meets from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 28, except for Sept. 30. The program also will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 4 to Dec. 16, except for Nov. 25.

The four-session program for third- to fifth-graders will meet from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 21, except for Sept. 23 and 30. The program will be offered again from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 4 to Dec. 9, except for Nov. 18 and 25.

Cost is $200 per family. Fee reductions are available based on need.
