But wait, there's more

New Naperville Park District Executive Director Ray McGury isn't the only former police officer who turned in his gun for a leadership position in Naperville. McGury, Mayor George Pradel and City Manager Pro Tem Robert Marshall share their thoughts on the trend:

Mayor George Pradel

Police experience: 29 years

"Certainly all three of us have a desire to make Naperville one of the best places to live and the quality of life high and dedicate ourselves to it."

City Manager Pro Tem Robert Marshall

Police experience: 27 years

"A high level of integrity would translate into (these) jobs, reacting calmly under pressure and stressful situations. Those are skills I think translate into all three jobs as well as being goal oriented and being able to deliver results."

Naperville Park District Executive Director Ray McGury

Police experience: 27 years

"I think the common denominator besides being police is we all came from Naperville. That says something about not only the training you receive here ... but I think it's the experiences, the relationships you create with the community."

Naperville City Manager Pro Tem Robert Marshall.
