Reduce the power of the presidency
Soon we will have a new president. Either one will be an improvement over the past eight years.
I personally prefer Barack Obama for his policy of fairer social equity and his likelihood of "diplomacy before war."
However, neither candidate has addressed the most pressing issue they will face. That is, restoring the checks and balances to our government that would ensure the continuation of democracy.
The next president must return to the constitution many powers that have been usurped to the president by Dick Cheney (under his cloak of secrecy).
I realize that people who seek power do not like to give it up, but it is imperative the next president do exactly that.
Only then can we return America to a constitutional government instead of the borderline dictatorship we now have.
The candidate who addresses this issue will get my vote.
