Second man arrested in death of Mount Prospect woman
Police have arrested a second man in connection with the overdose death of a Mount Prospect woman in June.
Andrew Hall, 21, formerly of Mount Prospect, was arrested Tuesday night in Chandler, Ariz., and charged with drug-induced homicide. Police said he supplied the heroin that led to the death of 20-year-old Gina Dominick.
Prospect Heights Police Chief Bruce Morris said his department interviewed Hall soon after Dominick's death.
However, the toxicology reports had not come back, and police didn't have a clear cause for the death.
In earlier interviews Hall did admit, however, to selling the heroin to Dominick, Morris said.
While he lived in Mount Prospect until just recently, Hall moved a month or so ago to Arizona. A warrant for his arrest was approved on Sept. 8, after the toxicology reports confirmed that Dominick died of a drug overdose.
"We tracked him down and found out that he moved down to Arizona," Morris said. "We don't know the reason why he moved down there."
Prospect Heights police are still waiting for Hall's extradition from Chandler; Morris said there's no exact date settled for that yet.
Hall is currently being held at Maricopa County jail on a $750,000 bond.
Earlier in the week, police arrested Thomas Young, 21, of Prospect Heights, and charged him with concealing a homicide.
Young turned himself in Monday. He was released after posting $5,000 of his $50,000 bond and has an Oct. 10 court date.
According to the Cook County State's Attorney's office, Young told them he fell asleep after he and Dominick ingested heroin at his house on June 28. Hall was not present, police said.
Young told police he woke up to find Dominick unconscious in the bathroom.
After he determined she had died, he put her body in her car and drove her a couple blocks to the parking lot at the Prospect Heights Library.
Passers-by found her there about 10 a.m. June 29.
Dominick attended St. Raymond Elementary School in Mount Prospect and graduated from Prospect High School in 2006.
She had worked at various pizza places as a manager and waitress since then, friends have said. She also completed a year at Harper College in Palatine and planned to return in the fall.
Hall went to school with Dominick at some point, said Prospect Heights Detective Sgt. Al Steffen.
Police said this is the final arrest in the case.
