Three hurt in accident on Reagan Tollway
Three elderly men were injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash in the eastbound lanes of the Reagan Memorial Tollway just east of the Naperville Road underpass.
The unidentified trio were extricated from the vehicle they were in after losing control and being struck broadside on the driver's side by a tanker truck, according to District 15 state police.
The men were all in their 70s, according to Sgt. Mark Brzeczek. All three were transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The driver was in critical condition and the other two men were in stable condition Wednesday night, Brzeczek said. One of the men is from Burr Ridge and the other two from Darien.
Brzeczek said the three were in a 2001 Buick LeSabre. The car lost control and struck a concrete median before swerving into the center lane. No tickets were issued.
The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. near the border between Naperville and Lisle. Emergency workers closed all three eastbound lanes for roughly an hour but eventually opened some lanes while investigators cleared the debris.
