• Burglars stole a GPS unit around 9:45 p.m. Sept. 2 out of an unlocked 2005 Chevrolet Impala parked on the 1500 block of Della Drive, police said. Value was estimated at $200.
Palatine
• Thieves stole a credit card, driver's license and $25 between noon Aug. 29 and 11:55 p.m. Sept. 1 from a victim at an apartment complex on the 1000 block of North Sterling Avenue, police said. According to reports, the victim discovered several charges on the card; a value estimate was not available.
• Jose M. Soto, 40, 15 Dundee Quarter, Palatine, was arrested around 7:55 p.m. Sept. 2 and charged with retail theft after a security agent for Dominick's, 615 Dundee Road, saw him take store plastic bags out of his pocket and fill them with two 24-packs of beer and two trays of shrimp and leave without paying, police said. According to reports, the agent recognized him from earlier shoplifting events and followed him in the store. Total value was estimated at $54. A court date was not available.
• Vandals smashed a driver's-side window between 1:30 and 10 p.m. Sept. 4 on a 1996 Saturn SL parked in a store lot at 825 E. Dundee Road, police said. Nothing appeared to be missing, reports added. Damage was estimated at $150.
• A man stole two desktop computers between 4:10 and 4:14 p.m. Sept. 4 from Office Max, 1381 Rand Road, police said. He placed the computers in a shopping cart, pushed the cart to the rear of the store, picked up the computers, and disappeared through the fire exit door, reports added. Total value was estimated at $999.
Schaumburg
• Brenda Flores, 20, 954 Berkley St., Carpentersville, was arrested around 3:25 a.m. Sept. 3 in a gas station lot at 2 N. Barrington Road and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and traffic violations, police said. Her Rolling Meadows court date was set for Sept. 23.
