Operation Helping Hands program: Join Bill Kramer of St. Marcelline Parish in Schaumburg and other volunteers from the northwest suburbs as they travel to New Orleans Oct. 12 to aid Catholic Charities of New Orleans rebuild homes for elderly citizens. Adult volunteers, over 21 years of age, are being sought to participate. Volunteers with construction experience are especially needed to steer on-site efforts. Battle of the District 15 Bands: District 15 Educational Foundation is hosting a Battle of the District 15 bands event from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 8 at Durty Nellie's in Palatine. Bands are being sought to compete. Band members must be 21 or older, a parent of a District 15 student or alumni of a District 15 school. Prizes will be awarded to the top two bands.
